2010 Future Postal Kiosk (2002)
Overview
The aim of this project was to explore the Indian Postal Service system, and draw possible future scenarios based on the understanding of the existing scenario, current and possible future human needs and technological directions for the future .
The Idea
Keeping in mind the need for users for a greater amount of flexibility in the idea of 'communication', the future postal system intends to be an interactive kiosk. This kiosk would be located in centres of every residential and commercial areas, like the local ATM machine. It would take care of email, regular mail, parcels and a public phone. It would also serve as an urban landmark with an area map, advertising the private company that is maintaining it, and a public seating element.
