Magi
Current play and learn-platforms for children provided by interactive technologies are enforcing pre-programmed rules and stifling creativity and excercise essential for a child's development. MAGI is a physical PLAY+LEARN environment for preschool children in Sweden, a flexible 'play-system' for the stories that they want to create in their early years.
Magi, short for for ‘Magisk’ which means magic in Swedish is a magical experience for young children. Magi is a place where they can live out their fantasy play, in real physical space and not just in the space of their minds or the space of a computer screen. Through the process of research, user tests and design, I have come to believe that children are longing for a way to express in 3 dimension. They need a platform for doing so, and Magi fulfills that desire. Magi opens up the ‘3D’ way of creative thinking in their minds.
