The Bathroom Shop (2000)
The aim of this project was to design a shop for bathroom accessories. The site is located on a highway leading out of the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The original site volume was a very basic cuboidal space, part of a much larger building, located on the ground level with it's facade facing the highway.

The Challenge and the Concept (4)
The main design challenge was attracting traffic from the highway into the shop. To counter this, the space itself was made to become an advertisement. The facade was made into a large dynamic image of a very small product, blown up much bigger than its size, and was split into parts so that the blur of one image became one large image. Partitioning elements inside the space were made of digital projections of products in use. -
The Space and Methods of Display (6)
Bathroom accessories had only gained importance in the very recent past in India. To underline the value of the bathroom as a place of importance, each product is treated in this shop as artwork. Each product is given a place of its own to be appreciated yet each product can be visually compared to the other.
